What is Kaplaa?

Kaplaa is an online community where users can upload and download Audio and Video to use in various ways. It's all about sharing content, creating new works from existing works, and making friends. Maybe you have a video that you want to post on the internet that you need some music for. Maybe you're a musician who has a song that you want to make a video for. Kaplaa is the place to come.

Is Kaplaa Free?

You can join Kaplaa for free, and download up to 100 megabytes of content per month and organize your clips with three sets and three groups. You can upgrade to a Pro Account for $19.95 and have unlimited downloading, and unlimited sets and groups. That's only $1.66 a month!!!

What are the rules for using Kaplaa?

RESPECT: Please respect the talents, creativity, and points of view expressed by fellow users in the Kaplaa community. Not everybody thinks or feels the same or has the same values. If you are offended by any content on Kaplaa either surf away or report it as inappropriate. Remember, different strokes for different folks.

POST: Please post only your own material. You can take other Kaplaa user's content and change it and re-post it. However, copy written material will be removed. Also, do not post anything that you don't have permission to post. For instance, videos of people who may not want to be mixed into someone else's project.

SHARE: Kaplaa is all about sharing. Please leave comments and rate user's material. This will help everyone find the best stuff, and help build a fun creative community. Also feel free to start and join groups. If you have any comments or suggestions please let us know!

ACKNOWLEDGE: If you use someone's stuff, let them know. People love to see what others do with their work.

USE INNAPROPRIATE MATERIAL: Please don't upload illegal, offensive or obscene material. If you're not sure about something you want to upload, read the Terms of Service or just don't post it. We don't want to have to remove content or user profiles, but we will if we have to.

HARASS: Please don't harass, bully, bore, threaten, intimidate, impersonate, abuse, rant, lie, cheat, steal, burn, or stalk. If we receive a valid complaint, we will be forced to remove your account, or in extreme cases report you to the authorities.

I want to use something I found on Kaplaa for my project, how do I do it?

Download the sample content you want to use. All the content on Kaplaa is posted under a Creative Commons Attribution - Non-Commercial - Share Alike license http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/ . What the heck does that mean? Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that offers an alternative to full copyright. Basically the license means that you can use any content on Kaplaa for non-commercial purposes, and that you acknowledge the source (the person who created the sample you use), and if you distribute a new derivative work it must be under the same or similar license. Or to put it simply, share and share alike.

Can I use the content I download from Kaplaa to make money?

No, the Creative Commons license we use is for non-commercial activity. You can contact the creator/owner about licensing if you want to use their content for a commercial project.

How many clips can I download for free?

For the free account you can download 100 megabytes. For the pro account downloading is unlimited.

How many clips can I upload for free?

You can upload as many clips to Kaplaa as you want.

How do I upload clips to Kaplaa?

Use the upload button on the "My Account" page.

How do I download clips from Kaplaa?

Find an audio or video clip you like and click the download button. Select a spot on your computer to save the file to.
